The Rhythm section
Tony Thorpe on bass guitar
Tony Thorpe [bass guitar]

Tony Thorpe - Bass guitar
Born London. Ages ago.

A child prodigy, Tony was playing bass guitar with the London-based Chicago Blues Band in his teens.

He has played with some of the Blues greats, including Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf.

Gave up playing to selflessly devote himself fulltime to womankind for many years. Perhaps as a natural consequence, he rediscovered the Blues and once again picked up his Fender to help form Red Rooster.

Likened by many to Jack Bruce in his playing and to Pierce Brosnan in his sex appeal.

Tony Thorpe - bass player and sex object.

Martin "Cloughie" Clough on drums
Martin Clough [drums]

Martin Clough - Drums
Born Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Ages ago.

Martin began his musical career in the '60s where he almost immediately became heavily involved in the lifestyle of the times: sex, drugs and rock & roll. The effect of those years is still evident today - the sex and rock & roll are now distant memories, so, in order to retain some credibility, he is mainlining Sanatogen and popping blood pressure tablets daily.

God help us - Martin is the youngest member of the band!

He has been playing drums since 1969, so he should be good by now - and he is. Take a look at him at the end of a gig and it's clear that he is the most hardworking member of the band. (Not advised for the squeamish.)

Previous bands include The Vision Blues Band, Green Mist and Half Truth.

Helped form Red Rooster in July 1996.

Martin Clough - never makes the coffee. Ever.

The Artistic section

Steve Sweet on harmonica and vocals
Steve Sweet [harmonica and vocals]

Steve Sweet - Vocals and harmonica
Born Bristol. Ages ago.

The newest member of the band. Like Martin, Steve has been involved in the Bristol music scene since the '60s when he did an extended tour of Europe. As it was with the St. Mary Redcliffe Boys Choir the rest of the band don't seem to think it counts.

Only in the band because he can't get a proper job; and to make the others look good.

Steve Sweet - blowing his own organ.

Syd Riley on lead guitar
Syd Riley [lead guitar]

Syd Riley - Lead (+rhythm) guitar
Born Liverpool. Ages ago.

A naturally gifted guitarist - during a gig he will play in the style of Clapton, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Peter Green - and, sometimes, all of them simultaneously. Occasionally, he will even play in the style of Syd Riley...

The ultimate professional, he has been known to retune his guitar several times in one gig.

He is the artistic member of the band who has had to do all the difficult bits and therefore should be paid more. But isn't.

The man is hot! Watch his guitar - it is no stranger to spontaneous combustion.

Without a shadow of doubt the finest guitarist in his street (a small cul-de-sac with several unoccupied houses).
